    They work to assist victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, sexual exploitation, sex trafficking, labor trafficking, and other crimes (including; stalking, elder abuse, identity theft, robbery, theft, etc.), as they navigate the social, emotional and economic impacts they face as victims on the path to becoming survivors.

    Alexandria Treehouse – Young Adults


    Treehouse is a support group for young adults ages 18-24.  Meetings are held every Monday from 6-8 pm.  A meal is provided.  Treehouse provides a safe environment, guidance and practical skills in making better choices today to live as healthy a life as possible.  Core Treehouse beliefs: you are lovable, capable, worthwhile, and loved without strings. They meet at 3888 Pioneer Road – Northstar Christina Academy Building (next to Alexandria Area High School)

    Grief Share – Alexandria
    A 13-week Christian based program where people learn to walk the journey of grief and be supported.  It is a place where grieving people find healing and hope.  Three key elements to each meeting include a video seminar, group discussion and personal workbook.

    Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)
    The purpose of all AA group meetings is for AA members to share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others recover from alcoholism.

    Al-Anon Meetings

    Al-Anon is a mutual support group of peers who share their experience in applying the Al-Anon principles to problems related to the effects of a problem drinker in their lives.

    Narcotics Anonymous (NA)

    NA is a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. We are recovering addicts who meet regularly to help each other stay clean. This is a program of complete abstinence from all drugs.


    Rural Minnesota CEP (Concentrated Employment Program)


    We exist to assist people, employers and communities achieve success in meeting their economic goals. Our experienced staff provides multiple services to job seekers and employers, whether it’s a high school youth learning to navigate the job seeking system for the first time or person dislocated from a long time job needing to refresh skills in order to re-enter employment. We provide career counseling and direction to people in determining appropriate career paths and the actions needed to achieve their goals. We have developed valuable relationships with the employers in our communities to assist us in developing the work skills of our clients. We are able to focus on the needs of the job seekers, employers and grow our workforce skills that in turn strengthen our communities.

    Hope Haven (run by United Way)


    Provides shelter to those experiencing homelessness through local church partners and provides supportive services/connections to local nonprofits who can help. United Way partners with West Central Minnesota Communities Actions to carry out this program. 

    Family Homeless Prevention and Assistance Program (FHPAP)


    An emergency program that services singles and families that are homeless or nearly homeless.  Can pay for deposit, rent, mortgage and or utilities: short to mid-term case management.

    Housing assistance in Douglas County. Government funded program (Section 8), that provides rental assistance to eligible seniors, singles, families and persons with disabilities to secure affordable housing.

    Energy Assistance – West Central Minnesota Community Action (WCMCA)


    Energy Assistance, crisis and energy related repair programs are available to eligible clients in Douglas County. Assistance is determined by the number of individuals that live in the home, the type of fuel used, the cost of the previous year, and household income received in the (3) previous months to when application is submitted.  

    Salvation Army Northern Division


    They assist in providing housing.


    Legal Services of Northwest Minnesota (LSNM)


    Provides legal advice/services without charge to qualifying persons in Douglas County, and surrounding areas. 
    Eligibility: low income or age 60.

    THRIVE Behavioral Network | Milestones

IRTS are designed to develop and enhance psychiatric stability, personal and emotional adjustment, self-sufficiency, and the necessary skills to live in a more independent setting

    Vikingland Community Support System

    Adult Rehabilitation Mental Health Services (ARMHS) – individual or group setting services for adults with a mental illness diagnosis: Basic living and social service skills such as resource utilization, budgeting, healthy lifestyle, cooking, transportation utilization, supported employment services plus more; community intervention which may minimize the risk of hospitalization or other more restrictive living arrangements and medication education provided by a registered nurse. 

    Productive Alternatives INC., Individual Placement and Support (IPA) 

    Employment specialists meet with client’s mental health professionals and family members with permission to determine each person’s strengths and assist in identify in employment goals.  Job searches begin soon after a person expresses interest in working.
